Former Solon Football Star Getting Attention at Michigan State

Spartans football coaches think Darian Hicks could be on the field a lot his freshman season.

Darian Hicks always made his presence known to opponents while playing for the Solon Comets, now it seems he'll be doing the same on a bigger state.

Scout.com reports that Hicks could see the field for the Michigan State Spartans this season as a true freshman.

“Oh, there’s a real, real good chance,” defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi told Scout.com. “He’s a great player out of Solon, Ohio. He’s smooth and he’s got patience and I think he’s going to be a good player for us.”

Coaches and players have been praising Hicks for his performances at practice and will be the the fourth cornerback when the Spartans open their season up on Friday against Western Michigan. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network at 8 p.m.

Hicks was a multi-threat for the Comets, playing receiver, defensive back and kick and punt returner. He scored six touchdowns, including two as receiver and four in the return game.
