The Ohio Law Enforcement Torch Run is scheduled for June 26.

On June 26, law enforcement officials from Solon will once again pass the torch in a run to benefit the Special Olympics Ohio organization.

The Ohio Law Enforcement Torch Run is scheduled for June 26. About 2,000 officials run in The Ohio Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The officers will take the torch from the Moreland Hills Police Department at SOM Center and Miles roads and run it to the Twinsburg line, a distance of about 6 miles.

The Solon Police Department posted on its Facebook page that it is looking for sponsors for the runners.

For more information, call Lt. Bruce Felton at 440-337-1471.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run began in Wichita, Kansas in 1981 when the Police Chief at that time, Richard LaMunyon, conceived the idea of the Torch Run as a way to involve local law enforcement with the community and the Special Olympics. Today the Torch Run involves law enforcement in all 50 states and more than 25 countries worldwide, making it the largest grass roots fundraising program to benefit the Special Olympics in the world.
