Fireworks Shot Into Crowd and Assault Reported During Fireworks Show

Police made two arrests during the city's fireworks show.

A man shooting a roman candle into a crowd and a road-rage assault kept Solon police busy during the city's fireworks show on July 4.

At around 10:45 p.m. a 19-year-old Maple Heights man was charged with disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, after shooting a roman candle firework into a crowd.

Cuyahoga County Sheriff arrested and turned him over to Solon.

Almost 20 minutes later near Linden and Baldwin a man was arrested for assaulting an 18-year-old Twinsburg woman.

After the fireworks display traffic was heavily congested causing some frustrations when a Solon man, 46, got out of his car and punched the woman in the car in front of him, according to police. 

The man said he was pushed first and only pushed the woman back, however, independent witnesses said he got out and punched her and he had no wounds to back up his story. 

The man was charged with assault, a first-degree misdemeanor.
