Mayor's Secretary Lawsuit: Is A Deal In The Works?

Will Sally Dietrick and the Mayor Susan Drucker and the city of Solon reach a deal to avoid a trial in September?

Sally Deitrick and Solon Mayor Susan Drucker are seeking to work out a deal in private to avoid going to trial in Deitrick's wrongful termination lawsuit against Drucker and the city, court records show. A settlement conference had been scheduled for Jan. 25 but was later canceled. Court records show that both parties decided to cancel that conference in an effort to "privately mediate the case." If a deal is worked out between the parties, there will be no need for a trial, which is set to begin in late September. The next scheduled action in the lawsuit is a pre-trial conferenc scheduled for Sept. 5. Trial would begin Sept. 23. Deitrick is Drucker's former secretary. Mayor's Secretary Lawsuit Update: Settlement Conference Scheduled For Friday

A trial in the wrongful termination lawsuit against Mayor Susan Drucker is scheduled for September if parties can't reach a deal before that.

UPDATE: The settlement conference scheduled for today was canceled, according to court records. ------ A settlement conference is scheduled for Friday in the wrongful termination lawsuit against Solon Mayor Susan Drucker The conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, and officials with settlement authority are required to attend in person, according to court records. A settlement in the case brought by former mayor's secretary Sally Deitrick against Drucker and the city would prevent the need for a trial, currently slated to begin in late September. Trial Set In Sally Deitrick Wrongful Termination Lawsuit

If the parties can't reach a settlement, Sally Deitrick's wrongful termination trial against the city of Solon and Mayor Susan Drucker will go to trial in 2013.

If no settlement is reached, Sally Deitrick's wrongful termination trial against Mayor Susan Drucker and the city of Solon will go to trial next year. According to records at the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, Judge Peter J. Corrigan has set a trial date of Sept. 23, 2013. No more continuances will be granted in the lawsuit, which was filed in October 2011. So unless a settlement is reached, the case will be heard. A settlement conference has also been scheduled for Jan. 25, so that will give both sides a chance to work out a deal. Deitrick Lawsuit Update: Trial, if Needed, Pushed into 2013

A settlement conference and, if necessary, a trial in Sally Deitrick's lawsuit against Mayor Susan Drucker has been pushed into next year.

A decision in the wrongful termination and age discrimination lawsuit filed by former Solon employee Sally Deitrick likely won't come until 2013, court records show. In August, attorneys representing the city and Mayor Susan Drucker asked for an extension, which was granted. A settlement conference is now scheduled for Jan. 10 and, if necessary, a trial date is set for March 11. The extension comes after the judge declined to dismiss the lawsuit in May. A settlement conference had been previously scheduled for Nov. 8. Deitrick alleges in the complaint that Drucker fired her because she was old, and that Drucker had an ax to grind against the city's older employers. The city denies Sally Deitrick's allegations against the city and the mayor, arguing that the lawsuit was designed to "embarrass and harass the mayor and the city without any basis in law."

Attorneys for Solon were in court last week to defend the city and Mayor Susan Drucker against a wrongful firing lawsuit filed by the mayor's former secretary. Attached to this post is the motion to dismiss and their counter to Deitrick's original lawsuit, which were filed in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on Dec. 28. Representing the city is Nancy Barnes from Thompson Hine, which was hired by the city to handle the case, and Law Director Thomas Lobe.

The city has begun its defending itself against the wrongful termination lawsuit filed by the mayor's former secretary. The attorney representing the city of Solon and Mayor Susan Drucker in a wrongful termination lawsuit was in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court last week, asking Judge Peter J. Corrigan to dismiss the lawsuit. Attorneys for the city also filed an answer and counter-claim to Deitrick's original complaint, in which the former mayor's secretary accused Drucker and the city of wrongfully firing her because of her age and a pattern of discriminating against Solon's older workers. Deitrick Complaint Alleges Mayor Descriminated Against Secretary's Age

In a lawsuit filed in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, Sally Deitrick claims that Mayor Susan Drucker fired her because of her age and that her firing is "part of a pattern and practice of age discrimination against older and senior employees of Solon.

  Sally Deitrick claims she was fired by Solon Mayor Susan Drucker because of her age, according to a lawsuit the former secretary filed in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. The 12-page lawsuit (attached to this article) recounts Deitrick's side of how her professional relationship with Drucker deteriorated between 2009, when Drucker won the mayoral race, and her firing in May 2011. Deitrick seeks $250,000 in damages for wrongful termination from both the city of Solon and Drucker. Sally Deitrick was fired as mayor's secretary in May, but has since filed a wrongful termination lawsuit seeking $250,000 in damages.
