Your Opinion: Do Guns and Booze Mix?
You can't drink while carrying, but a new state law allows you to bring a gun into bars, restaurants, nightclubs, shopping malls, museums and sports stadiums. Is this a good idea?
Ohio Gov. John Kasich is expected to sign Senate Bill 17 into law, which will allow concealed carry of guns into liquor-serving establishments, including bars, restaurants, nightclubs, shopping malls, museums and sports stadiums. Gun-rights advocates applaud the move, saying that this is only Ohio catching up with what most states are doing. Others say the move is idiotic, that guns should not be brought into such places. According to the Plain Dealer, 42 states allow gun owners to bring concealed guns into restaurants, but most states don't let you bring a weapon into a bar or a stadium. These same people also have a driver’s license. Chances are greater that they will kill someone with their automobile. It's the individual; not the gun, the booze or the automobile. Irresponsible people will always be a menace to society and jeopardize the rights of others no matter how many laws we create.   more ›
