No Progress on Marc's Redesign, Expansion

City officials have not received an application for building permits for the project to improve and expand Marc's in Solon, reports the Solon Times.

There has been no further activity on plans to expand and improve the look of Marc's in the SOM Centre Plaza, reports the Solon Times. City officials told the newspaper that they have not received any building permit applications from the owner of the plaza. Approval for the project was granted by city council in September. At the time, Marc's representatives said the project would happen as soon as possible. Marc's hopes to build a 4,400-square-foot addition onto the back of the store and also add on another 8,300 square feet by expanding into the Pet Supplies Plus location next door. Pet Supplies Plus Opening Soon in Solon Village

Pet Supplies Plus will soon be moving down SOM Center Road, from its location near Marc's to the new Solon Village.

Pet Supplies Plus will soon be moving down SOM Center Road, from its location near Marc's to the new Solon Village. Pet Supplies Plus is currently located next to Marc's. A "coming soon" sign is hanging outside the new location. And while no date has been set yet for the opening, it's expected to be soon. Once Pet Supplies Plus opens in its new location, Marc's will be able to proceed with plans to improve its storefront and expand into the space now occupied by the pet store. Other new businesses slated to open soon at Solon Village include Antonio's Pizza and Best Cuts. Work is also underway on a new Giant Eagle Market District, the grocery chain's high-end brand. That store is expected to open later this year.

Some Friend: Woman Arrested For Shoplifting After Accomplice Bails On Her

Police are looking for a woman who Marc's employees say shoplifted from the Solon store and left her accomplice behind to face the music. According to the Solon Police report, two women were spotted by Marc's employees walking out of the store on SOM Center Road with a cart full of unpaid merchandise. Employees confronted the women in the parking lot, but the woman not pushing the court said she wasn't with the other woman and hurried off, according to the police report. The other woman, a 19-year-old Bedford Heights woman, was detained and is now facing a theft charge. The cart contained about $75 worth of unpaid goods from the store.

Marc's Renovation Plans Move Forward

The Solon Planning Commission signed off on a expansion and remodeling plan for the Marc's in Solon. The City Council will vote on the plan Sept. 4.

Marc's is a step closer to having a bigger and better looking store in Solon. The Solon Planning Commission passed plans for Marc's expansion on to the city council, which is expected to vote on a revised site plan and some variances for the project on Sept. 4. Marc's hopes to build a 4,400-square-foot addition onto the back of the store and also add on another 8,300 square feet by expanding into the Pet Supplies Plus location next door. Pet Supplies Plus plans to move to the under-development Solon Village at the corner of SOM Center and Aurora roads. Marc's Expansion Plans Before Planning Commission Tuesday

Marc's plans to improve and expand its store in Solon. A site plan will be viewed by the planning commission at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Solon Planning commission will discuss Marc's plans to improve and expand its store on SOM Center Road in Solon. The commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall. Marc's hopes to build a 4,400-square-foot addition onto the back of the store and also add on another 8,300 square feet by expanding into the Pet Supplies Plus location next door. Pet Supplies Plus plans to move to the under-development Solon Village at the corner of SOM Center and Aurora roads. Plans call for refacing the Marc's building with thin brick and cast stone with accents. The architect plans to bring material samples to the planning meeting. No changes will be made to the Sears Grand store in the plaza. The improvement at Marc's will help blend the shopping …

This is great news. Shopping in Solon is like war-torn Beirut, except Beirut has nicer buildings! Seriously why are the shopping centers so dillapidated in this #1 suburb? All the other communities and even many Cleveland neighborhoods have better looking shopping centers than Solon. Shame on the city leaders who have let this aspect of Solon go so far downhill. Marc's Employee Charged With Theft For Money Order Scam

A 30-year-old Marc's employee is charged with theft after she is accused of handing over an unpaid, $500 money order to a customer, according to Solon Police. Police were called to Marc's in Solon to view a surveillance video, which showed the employee ringing up two money orders, one for roughy $25 and the other for $500, according to a police report. The woman gave both money orders to an unidentified female customer, who only paid for the $25 order. The woman was arrested when she showed up to work on June 6 and charged with theft.

Marc's Employee Charged With Stealing Customer's Wallet

A 17-year-old teenager who worked at Marc's was accused of stealing a wallet, and $50 inside, from the lost and found at the Solon store, according to Solon Police. A 65-year-old cusotmer had been shopping at the store, located on SOM Center Road, and that she left her wallet there. She called the store, and someone told her they had the wallet and she could come and pick it up. When she got to the store, store workers said they couldn't find the wallet. The wallet was later found in the parking lot of a nearby business. Store surveillance showed a 17-year-old employee taking the wallet. The teenager was referred to juvenile court.

Mentor Woman Charged with Robbery at Marc's in Solon

A Mentor woman was arrested and charged with robbery after attempting to steal $18.79 worth of stuff at Marc's in Solon, according to Solon Police. Store security told police that Lynda Lofquist, 48, of Mentor, was seen in the close-out section of the store pulling tags off of items and placing them on the items in her cart. She was taken into an office, where police say she assaulted two employees while trying to break out of the office. Lt. Bruce Felton of the Solon Police department said that Lofquist received the robbery charge, a felony, because of the assaults during the theft.

Police: Man Steals Jewelry, Ditches Family at Marc's

A 30-year-old Bedford man was arrested and charged with felony theft after Solon police say he ran from Marc's with jewelry in his hands – and left his wife and three kids behind. Charged in the May 31 theft was Michael Joseph Russe, 30, of Bedford. Marc's is located at 6231 Som Center Road. According to the police report, a man and his family were browsing at Marc's jewelry counter when police say the man grabbed two gold necklaces worth about $2,257, ran from the store and drove off in the family car. The store clerk told police that the wife looked surprised, and took her to the Pet Supplies Plus store next door to call for a ride home. She later told police she didn't know her husband, according to the report. The man was arrested by …
