The bank needs a number of variances to build its branch on Aurora Road at the front of Solon Square shopping center
Huntington Bank is seeking to build a 3,000-square-foot branch at Solon Square shopping center. The project will be reviewed by the Solon Planning Commission at its 7 p.m. meeting tonight. The bank submitted a site plan and needs a number of variances before it can build the branch, including those for setbacks, building color, material and wall signs. The bank's representative, Colton Enterprises, will be at tonight's hearing. Right now, Huntington has a branch located inside Giant Eagle and a drive-thru location in front of Solar Center shopping center. In other planning commission items, the commission will also discuss a sign variance for Station 43.

Tigran Papyan, of Richmond Heights, was charged with multiple counts of passing bad checks, forgery, and theft
A two-year-old check scheme finally unraveled on a Richmond Heights man who was arrested earlier this month in Solon, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office. Tigran Papyan of Richmond Heights faces multiple counts of passing bad checks, forgery and theft dating back to August 2009. Ryan Miday, a spokesman for the prosecutor's office, said that Papyan is accused of cashing counterfeit checks totaling more than $42,000 between August 2009 and November 2009. After that, Papyan left the country, and has had active warrants out for his arrest. Miday said he is unclear on the circumstances of how Papyan was caught. Woman told her bank that she did not authorize two phone payments worth more than $7,500
It's never good when the bank calls to say your account has been overdrawn. But a 53-year-old Solon woman got an even bigger rude awakening Feb.6 when Huntington Bank called to tell her that her account showed two phone payments totaling $7,670.87 had led to an overdraft. Thing is, the woman never made those payments. The woman reported the incident to Solon police, who say they have no suspects.
