Giant Eagle Market District will host a job fair Saturday at the Solon Community to fill as many as 450 jobs at the new store in Solon. The high-end grocery store is under construction at Solon Village at the corner of SOM Center and Aurora roads. The store is slated to open later this year. The job fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at the community center. Positions are for both full and part-time positions for all shifts. No appointments are necessary. More Shoplifters Caught At Giant Eagle

Giant Eagle in Solon has been rounding up shoplifters lately, and has caught two more people trying to steal merchandise, according to Solon Police reports. On Feb. 12, a 60-year-old Solon woman was caught by the store's loss prevention officers putting items in her purse. She also had a cart, and paid for the items in the cart but not in the purse. She was caught trying to steal about $45 worth of merchandise. She was charged with theft by the Solon Police. On Feb. 18, 40-year-old Maple Heights woman was caught stuffing items in her purse and trying to work from the store. She was caught by Giant Eagle staff with about $28 of unpaid merchandise. She was charged with theft and also arrested on a warrant from Shaker Heights.

New Giant Eagle To Have Online Ordering, Curbside Pickup

Giant Eagle Market District in Solon wants to have Curbside Express service, but those plans will need to be approved by city council first.

Giant Eagle Market District in Solon wants to offer Curbside Express service, in which customers can order groceries online and have them delivered to their cars in front of the store. Plans for Curbside Express would need to be approved by the city's safety committee and then the full city council because the plans require changes to the official project site plan. The safety committee will discuss the proposal at 6 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall. In a memo, Traffic Engineer Kevin Westbrooks said he does not have a problem with these plans so long as Giant Eagle adheres to the operations schedule, namely to limit flow to three orders every 30 minutes, to avoid congestion in front of the store. Shoplifters Escape From Giant Eagle, Caught Later By Police

A man and a women face charges after police say they tried to flee after shoplifting from Giant Eagle in Solon. On Jan.29, Giant Eagle called Solon Police to report a theft in progress by a woman who placed merchandise in her purse and left the store at Solon Village. The woman, a 37-year-old Cleveland woman, then hopped into a car driven by a 39-year-old Cleveland man. Police approached the car, and the woman got out fled on foot. Police caught up to her near Solon Boulevard. She gave false information to police and did not have the purse with the items. She was arrested and taken to Solon jail. Giant Eagle Ending Foodperks, Expanding Fuelperks

The program is 'a little too complex,' CEO said.

Giant Eagle is ending its Foodperks rewards program, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The last day to earn Foodperks will be Feb. 13 and discounts must be redeemed by May 31. According to a letter obtained by the newspaper, the CEO said customers thought the Foodperks program was "a little too complex." The program gave customers a 1 percent discount on groceries for every 10 gallons of gas purchased at GetGo gas stations. Foodperks began in 2009. Giant Eagle's Fuelperks program will remain. In fact, the Pittsburgh newspaper says the program will be augmented. Fuelperks already gives people 10 cents off per gallon of gas at GetGo stores for every $50 of food they buy at Giant Eagle. Five people in the last 10 days have been charged with shoplifting after Solon Police say they were caught trying to steal goods from the store.
