Giant Eagle Market District will host a job fair Saturday at the Solon Community to fill as many as 450 jobs at the new store in Solon. The high-end grocery store is under construction at Solon Village at the corner of SOM Center and Aurora roads. The store is slated to open later this year. The job fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at the community center. Positions are for both full and part-time positions for all shifts. No appointments are necessary. New Giant Eagle To Have Online Ordering, Curbside Pickup

Giant Eagle Market District in Solon wants to have Curbside Express service, but those plans will need to be approved by city council first.

Giant Eagle Market District in Solon wants to offer Curbside Express service, in which customers can order groceries online and have them delivered to their cars in front of the store. Plans for Curbside Express would need to be approved by the city's safety committee and then the full city council because the plans require changes to the official project site plan. The safety committee will discuss the proposal at 6 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall. In a memo, Traffic Engineer Kevin Westbrooks said he does not have a problem with these plans so long as Giant Eagle adheres to the operations schedule, namely to limit flow to three orders every 30 minutes, to avoid congestion in front of the store. New GetGo Scheduled to Open Next Week

Solon Planning Director Rob Frankland said the new gas station at Solon Village could be open as early as Monday.

Solon drivers will soon have a new place to fuel up their cars. The new GetGo gas station at Solon Village is on pace to open next week, possibly as early as Monday, said Rob Frankland, Solon's planning director. Frankland said the timeline can shift depending on workers finishing up final construction issues. Solon Patch will update you when the gas station is open. Because of Market District Giant Eagle, City Increases Developer's Grant Award

Echo Solon will now receive a grant of up to $200,000 for building a high-end Giant Eagle Market District store at the plaza.

Echo Solon will now receive $200,000 grant from the city for redeveloping Solar Center into the new Solon Village shopping plaza. The city had already agreed to pay the developer up to $140,000 for its $16.9 million investment at the plaza. But with the news that the new Giant Eagle will now be a high-end Market District store, the city decided to increase the grant to $200,000.
