GetGo in Solon Village will open at 8 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from Giant Eagle. Giant Eagle has announced that the new gas station will open on Dec. 3. After opening day, daily hours will be from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m. The new station is located at Solon Village on SOM Center Road, south of the intersection at SOM Center and Aurora roads. New GetGo Scheduled to Open Next Week

Solon Planning Director Rob Frankland said the new gas station at Solon Village could be open as early as Monday.

Solon drivers will soon have a new place to fuel up their cars. The new GetGo gas station at Solon Village is on pace to open next week, possibly as early as Monday, said Rob Frankland, Solon's planning director. Frankland said the timeline can shift depending on workers finishing up final construction issues. Solon Patch will update you when the gas station is open. Meanwhile, work is underway on the new Giant Eagle Market District grocery store at Solon Village. That high-end grocery store is expected to be open sometime next year.

City Council Balks About GetGo Bollards

Bollards designed to keep cars from crashing through the gas station got the thumbs down from Solon City Council members, who don't like the look of them.

Giant Eagle generally installs bollards to protect their GetGo gas stations from cars crashing into the building. But most Solon City Council members don't want bollards -- essentially 4-foot-tall metal posts designed to stop traffic -- at the new GetGo at Solon Village because they aren't attractive. The bollards for the project were discussed at Wednesday's City Council meeting. Councilman Bill Russo said he wasn't really in favor of having a GetGo gas station in that location in the first place, and doesn't want to detract from the overall quality of the development. Northeast Ohio police departments have been busy with plenty of outlandish offenses. Here are the weirdest reports of the week. All information was provided by police reports from departments in Patch communities. No mani-pedi here: Charles Swinney wouldn't take 'no' for an answer when it came to his nails. Mentor Police say the 43-year-old Cleveland man went into Asian Nails after several drinks and became irate when employees refused to give him a manicure and pedicure. He had a duffel bag with him and continually reached into it during the confrontation. That made four or five people scurry from the business.
