Police Reveal Location of Tonight's Drunken Driving Checkpoint

Find out where the Solon Police plan to check for drunken drivers tonight.

Police Release More Info on Location of Drunken Driving Checkpoint

Solon Police continue to narrow down the location of the drunken driving checkpoint scheduled for Saturday in Solon.

The drunken driving checkpoint planned for this Saturday in Solon will be held in the "northwest area" of town, according to Solon Police. More information, including the exact location and the times for the checkpoints, will be released Saturday. "We want the public to know that we will be out there for the benefit of the motoring public and pedestrians, working to make our roadways safe,” said Solon Police Sgt. Jamey Hofmann in a news release. The Solon Police Department reminds drivers to make smart choices if they are going to be drinking: The checkpoint is part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign to reduce drunken driving nationwide.

Solon Police Annouces Date For Drunken Driving Checkpoint

Find out when the Solon Police plan to set up a sobriety checkpoint to catch drunken drivers.

The Solon Police will set up a drunken driving checkpoint on Saturday, Aug. 25. The location and times of the checkpoint will be revealed as the date draws closer. The checkpoint is designed to detect impaired drivers and to educate the public about the dangers of drunk driving.  "Because impaired driving accounts for so many of our region’s traffic safety deaths, it is imperative that we find ways to keep impaired drivers off the roadways and to convince those who’ve been drinking not to get behind the wheel in the first place," said Solon Police Sgt. Drunken Driving Checkpoint Planned in Solon

The Solon Police are planning a sobriety checkpoint in conjunction with the 'Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over' campaign.

Sometime in the "next few weeks" the Solon Police will set up a checkpoint to ferret out drunken drivers. The checkpoint is expected sometime before Sept. 3, when the 'Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over' ends, according to a news release. The police will release more details on the checkpoint, including day and location, as the time approaches. The Solon Police Department says that anyone drinking should remember to get a designated driver, ro call a cab, call a friend or family member or stay at home or a hotel. Solon Police Arrest Seven at Drunk Driving Checkpoint

Solon Police arrested seven people and charged them with various crimes during a drunk driving checkpoint on Aurora Road on Sept. 3. The checkpoint was part of a nationwide crackdown against drunk driving over Labor Day weekend and coincided with the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign. According to Solon police, two people were charged for drunk driving, two for driving while their license was suspended and one for having an open alcohol container in the car. A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested for underage possession of alcohol and cigarettes and drug abuse after marijuana was found, according to a news release. Another passenger was arrested and charged with drug abuse. In all, 502 cars passed through the checkpoint on Aurora Road…

Solon Police Plan Drunk Driving Checkpoint Saturday Night

The checkpoint is part of an national campaign to catch drunk drivers

The Solon Police Department will conduct a drunk driving checkpoint Saturday night on Aurora Road. The checkpoint coincides with the new national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign (you probably have seen the commercials) and the Labor Day weekend, said Lt. Bruce Felton, a police spokesman. From 2008 to 2010, there were 3,828 alcohol-related crashes in Cuyahoga County resulting in 80 deaths.  There were 65 alcohol-related crashes Solon, killing one person, in that time period. The Solon Police Department uses both sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols to stamp out drunk driving.  At checkpoints, officers stop vehicles in a predetermined sequence (such as every third car) to evaluate drivers for indications of alcohol or drug …
