Handguns, Electronics Stolen in Rash of Car Thefts

The following was obtained from a Solon police report dated Feb. 21. It does not indicate convictions.

Solon police dispatchers received multiple calls on Feb. 21 after an unknown number of thieves broke into four cars within four hours and stole over $5,000 worth of property. From 7:30 to 11 p.m., police responded to the Blue Star Tavern, Panini's and Panera Bread parking lots to investigate the break-ins that appeared to be connected. Two SUVs and two pickup trucks had their windows smashed out, and in each case, a book bag or duffle bag was stolen. The stolen items included schoolbooks, laptops and two unloaded handguns. According to Solon Police Lt. Bruce Felton, the thief or thieves likely targeted the bigger vehicles since they lack traditional trunk space, making their valuables more exposed. Two More Cars Broken Into Outside Solon Restaurants

The information in this report is from the Solon Police.

Two more cars were broken into outside Solon restaurants, this time at Longhorn Steakhouse and Senorita Bonitas near Enterprise Parkway, according to Solon police. Both thefts occured on Dec. 28 at roughly dinner time and involved car windows being shattered and laptop bags taken, according to Solon Police. Detectives are investigating. A 43-year-old Aurora resident left Senorita Bonitas at about 6:32 p.m. to find that someone broke into the car and stole an Apply Macbook worth $1,500. The front passenger window was shattered. The theft at Longhorn Steakhouse occured at about 7:45 p.m. the same night. A 33-year-old Aurora resident found the window of their Ford truck shattered and a computer bag gone.
