Product Development Chef at Nestle Receives International Honor

Juerg Wismer, who works at Nestle in Solon, was inducted into The Honorable Order of the Golden Toque earlier this fall.

Earlier this fall, Nestle product development chef Juerg Wismer was inducted into an elite group of chefs called The Honorable Order of the Golden Toque. Wismer called the nomination a big honor, noting that the international nonprofit isn’t about who’s the best chef—it’s about supporting each other and promoting the culinary arts.  Just 100 individuals from across the world are invited to be part of the exclusive organization—members can’t apply. Its mission, according to the order’s website, is to create a forum to share “culinary knowledge and expertise,” to encourage young people entering the field and to enhance their industry. Starbucks, Stormwater Management on Planning Commission Agenda

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at Solon City Hall

The Solon Planning Commission will vote on a variance for the sign package of a major tenant at Solon Village. Developer Echo Solon has requested five wall signs, two ground signs and sign location variance for its yet-to-open location at the new building at Solon Village. The coffee shop was previously scheduled to open in October in the building with Menchies, GNC and other businesses. A new date has yet to be announced. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. after a 7 p.m. caucus at City Hall. The commission planned on reviewing a variance request from Menchies for a patio site plan, but that measure will be tabled, Planning Director Rob Frankland said.
