Wind, Rain and Snow Coming to Cuyahoga, Lake Counties

In addition to wind, the area is likely to receive snow today and Wednesday

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for most of the region -- including Lake and Cuyahoga counties. Meteorologists are warning that southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts reaching up to 45 mph will rattle the region today. The strongs winds are being caused by an arctic front that has moved into the area. The advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. today. Furthermore, the wind is expected to be joined by precipitation. Meteorologists predict that rain showers will turn into snow by the mid-morning today. The snow will persist through Wednesday with between three and seven inches expected in Lake County and three to six inches in Cuyahoga County by Wednesday night. National Weather Service Issues Wind Advisory For Cuyahoga County

Meteorologists predict that gusts of wind could reach up to 50 mph

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula counties. Meteorologists are predicting that the region will be buffeted with strong southwestern winds from now until 1 a.m. Tuesday. The winds are predicted to be 20 to 30 mph with the occasional gust reaching 50 mph. They are being created by a strong low pressure system that is pulling a cold front east across northern Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania. It is creating a tight pressure gradient that will remain throughout the day. Strong winds can knock down trees and power lines. Wind Advisory Issued For The Area, Snow Expected

Meteorologists warn that gusts could reach up to 50 mph

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the area from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. today. Meteorologists predict that winds will blow between 20 and 30 mph with gusts reaching as fast as 50 mph. The winds are expected to be the worst in the afternoon with speeds diminishing in the evening. The winds will be strongest along the Lake Erie shore line. Snow is expected to fall too, but less than a half an inch of accumulation is possible in Solon. These winds will be paired with snow in parts of the region. Ashtabula and Trumbull Counties have issued a winter storm warning. Lake County is expected to receive two to four inches of snow. High Wind Causing Power Outages in Solon

Winds may reach 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts up to 55 miles per hour.

A wind advisory is in effect until midnight in Northeast Ohio, including Solon. First Energy is estimating that 501 to 2,000 customers could be without power in Solon, according to the company's outage map. The National Weather Service forecasts sustained winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts reaching 55 miles per hour in Northeast Ohio. The forecast calls for winds of 25 to 28 miles per hour, up to gusts of 41 miles per hour in Solon. The winds are part of a cold front moving through the area that will whisk away our mild weather and bring in colder temperatures.
