New Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty has passed the investigation of paving contracts in Solon and Valley View to the state auditor's office.
An investigation of paving contracts in Solon and Valley View dating back to 2007 will now be handled by the Ohio auditor's office. The Plain Dealer reports that new Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty has handed the investigation to the auditor without explanation. A spokesman for the auditor told the newspaper the auditor's office is often used to investigate financial cases. The corruption scandal in Solon involved Dominic Bisesi, a former city employee who between 2004 and 2007 steered paving contracts to certain companies that then overcharged the city. Bisesi pleaded guilty to charges of theft in office and related tax charges and received a short jail sentence and probation. He was also forced to pay the city $84,000 in …

Over 750 people attended Greater Cleveland Congregations Forum
Fairmount Temple’s 750-seat congregation hall was filled to capacity at Monday’s Greater Cleveland Congregations’ forum for county prosecutor candidates. Congregants from 40 churches and synagogues gathered to see the five candidates answer to how they would support the organization’s priorities if elected. The GCC outlined four topics that they wanted candidates to address: preventing juveniles from waiving their right to an attorney, overcharging defendants with crimes, racial disparities in the justice system and adult and juvenile diversion programs.
