Four student-athletes signed letters of intention to play at colleges in Ohio, Oklahoma, New York and Arizona
Four Solon High School athletes decided on their collegiate destinations Wednesday and let family, friends and coaches witness part of the process. For National Letter of Intent Day, the students made their choices official by signing their letters in an assembly hosted in the atrium. Here are the athletes and where they will be attending college in 2013: "They've already won two state titles, and they both won 124 matches," Solon Wrestling coach Tony DiGiovani said. The second-seeded Comets volleyball team plays top-seeded Kenston this afternoon at Solon High School.
Solon Volleyball's great season continues Saturday with a district final matchup against Kenston. The Comets are 20-4 on the season and just defeated Brecksville-Broadview Heights in straight sets to advance to the district final. The game will be played at 2:30 p.m. today, Oct. 27, in the Solon High School gym. Solon is the second seed and Kenston is the top seed in the district. Good luck Comets!

Chelsey Tekavec, a standout on the Comets volleyball squad, will play Division I volleyball next fall.
Solon High's Chelsey Tekavec will play volleyball for Valparaiso University next fall. Tekavec, a leader on the Comets volleyball squad for four years, signed a letter of intent to play at the Division I university. According to the Plain Dealer, Tekavec had more than 220 kills and 354 digs for Solon last season. The Comets won the district tournament.

The Lady Comets travel to Hudson to face a tough opponent, Massillon Jackson.
The Lady Comets have been storming through the playoffs so far, winning the district championship after defeating Kenston on Saturday on their home court. But now the challenge gets even tougher as regional play begins tonight at 6 p.m.. The Comets travel to Hudson to play Massillon Jackson, one of the top teams in the state. The Polar Bears are 26-0. The game is set to be played at Hudson High School at 6 p.m. tonight. Head south and support the Lady Comets!

Elyria and Solon volleyball teams are friendly rivals, united by a cause.
Solon High School Freshmen, Junior Varsity and Varsity volleyball players teamed up with local businesses and volunteers to raise money for the Susan G. Komen affiliate. Local breast cancer survivors were honored with the presentation of flowers. This was also a special event for Chelsey Tekavec and Maddy Voigt who received special recognition as the two seniors on the team.

Jeter, an All-SEC standout for the Volunteers who grew up in Solon, tore her ACL last week and will miss the season
Solon native Kayla Jeter suffered a setback last week in her outstanding volleyball career at the University of Tennessee. Jeter tore her ACL during practice Aug. 19 and will miss her senior season, according to a news release from the Tennessee Athletic Department. Jeter plans to return for another season after she recovers from surgery. It will take an estimated six to nine months for Jeter's knee to recover. Jeter enjoyed her best season as a junior in 2010, earning first-team All-SEC and AVCA All-America honorable mention honors. Jeter was second on the team with 340 kills and led the squad with 19 solo blocks. It was definitely not business as usual for the Solon volleyball team last season. The Lady Comets, traditionally one of the top Divsion I programs in the state of Ohio, endured a tough 9-15 season that came to a close with a district semifinal setback at the hands of Brecksville-Broadview Heights. A key injury and an inexperienced lineup made for an uphill battle for Solon. The Lady Comets have become accustomed to success over the years.
