Lady Comets Soccer Wins 2-0, Heading to Regional Championship

The Lady Comets defeated Massillon Jackson 2-0 to advance to Saturday's Regional Championship.

The Solon Lady Comet Soccer Team is heading to the Regional Championship game. The Comets defeated Massillon Jackson 2-0 on Thursday behind goals by Maria Collica and Mika Williams. Goalie Kristen Confroy preserved the shutout. Collica opened the scoring with a goal at the 21 minute and Williams cushioned the lead in the 65th minute. Solon, now 18-2, will play Strongsville in Rocky River. That game is set to begin at 3 p.m. Saturday. The Comets are one of the eight Division 1 teams remaining in the state. If they win on Saturday, they make it to the final four and a chance to play in the championship game at Columbus Crew Stadium on Nov. 9. Congratulations Comets. Good luck!

Root On Your Comets: Girls Soccer In Regional Semi-Final Tonight

The Lady Comets soccer team continues its postseason run at 6 p.m. tonight when the team plays Massillon Jackson in Twinsburg.

The Solon High School Lady Comets soccer team hopes to continue its magical playoff run with a victory tonight against Massillon Jackson in the regional semi-final game. The Comets are fresh off their first District Title in team history after defeating Hudson 1-0. The game is set to begin at 6 p.m. tonight at Twinsburg High School. There are no pre-sale tickets, but they can be purchased at the gate for $6. If the Comets win, they will play the winner of the Strongsville-Mentor contest in the Regional Championship game on Saturday.

Solon Girls Soccer Defeats Brecksville, Twinsburg This Week

The Solon Lady Comets soccer team defeated Twinsburg 2-0 on Sept. 12 and Brecksville 1-0 on Saturday.

The Solon Lady Comets soccer team continues to excel, defeating Twinsburg and Brecksville with shutouts this week. The Comets won over rival Twinsburg 2-0 on Sept. 12 with goals by Maddie Kresevic and Natalie Ockunzzi. Then on Saturday, Solon defeated Brecksville 1-0 with a goal by Kresevic. The shutout, spearheaded by Goalie Kristen Confroy, was already the Comets sixth of the season. The Comets are 8-1 this season.

Solon Girls Soccer Off To 1-1 Start

The Solon Comets Girls Soccer Team won its opener against Cleveland Heights and lost its second game against a tough Walsh Jesuit Squad.

The Solon Lady Comets are off to a 1-1 start on the young season after dominating Cleveland Heights in the opener and losing against a tough Walsh Jesuit team. In the opener at home last Saturday, the Comets defeated Cleveland Heights in a 9-0 shutout. Hannah Schippers and Maddie Kresevic each recorded a hat trick (that's three goals each). Ariana Daukss scored two goals and Maria Collica scored one goal. Goalie Kristen Confroy led the shutout effort for the Comets. Solon travelled to Walsh Jesuit on Monday night and lost 3-0. The first half was scoreless, but the Lady Warriors scored three goals in the second half. The Comets will play in Brunswick on Wednesday night. Head out and support the Lady Comets! Solon Girls' Soccer Cracks ESPN Top 50 List

The 3-0-1 Lady Comets are ranked 50th on Powerade Fab 50 features on ESPN Rise

After an early-season draw against national powerhouse Walsh Jesuit, Solon girls' soccer has cracked the top 50 on ESPN Rise's national soccer rankings, otherwise known as the "Powerade Fab 50." Walsh, which was the third-ranked team at the beginning of the season, fell 16 spots to 19th after the 0-0 tie with the Comets. The Solon Comets are 3-0-1 after the tie with Walsh and wins over Brunswick, Madison and Medina. Up next is a 1 p.m. Saturday home game against Cardinal Mooney at Solon High School and a 7 p.m. Wednesday tilt at Parma Senior. The ESPN Rise national rankings are current as of Aug. 28. The latest rankings will be released next Tuesday.
