2013 Solon Football Schedule Released: Comets To Face Five New Teams Next Season

The Solon Comets football team will play an old rival in the 2013 season as the schedule gets overhauled.

The 2013 Solon Football schedule has been completed and features some significant changes, with the Comets preparing to face five different teams than last year. Starting with the non-conference portion of the schedule, Solon will rekindle a long rivalry with Kenston and begin a two-year stint with Willoughby South. The Comets will also play Valley Forge, Mayfield and Hudson, all new to the schedule next season. Solon will still play rivals Twinsburg and Mentor along with other Valley Division opponents Strongsville and Brunswick. Glenville also remains on the schedule from last season. Solon Football Wins Final Game, Defeats Strongsville 13-6

The Comets finished the season with a 5-5 record.

Two first quarter touchdowns on the final Friday of the football season were enough to lead the Solon Comets over Strongsville. The Comet's 13-6 win in Strongsville brought their final record to 5-5. Strongsville falls to 2-8. The Comets scored twice in the first quarter on a run from Khoury Crenshaw and a pass from Drew Barksdale.

Too Much Trubisky, Again: Solon Falls To Mentor 56-28

Solon gave up 21 first quarter points to Mentor, and the Cardinals never looked back.

Mentor quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw six touchdown passes as the Cardinals defeated Solon 56-28. Solon falls to 4-3 and Mentor is now 6-1. The Comets had two special teams mistakes early and gave up 21 first quarter points to Mentor. The Cardinals had 42 points at halftime. Mentor's standout quarterback Trubisky threw for more than 300 yards to go along with his six touchdown passes. Nick Delisa ran for one touchdown and caught two more. Brandon Fritts scored three touchdowns each. Conner Krizancic also snagged a touchdown catch. Sweet Homecoming: Solon Defeats Normandy 44-0

The Comets shutout Normandy 44-0 to raise their season record to 3-2.

It was a great Homecoming game for the Solon Comets, and for running back Khoury Crenshaw. Crenshaw led the Comets 44-0 over Normandy with five touchdown runs. The Comets are now 3-2 on the season. Antwain Hamilton add a touchdown run too, and Keon Hemerlein added a field goal. The Comets play Medina at home next Friday.

Solon Falls To North Royalton, 25-18

The Comets are 2-2 after losing to North Royalton 25-18 on Friday night.

The Solon Comets footballs team fell to 2-2 after a 25-18 loss to North Royalton Friday night. Solon led by one point, 18-17, at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but couldn't hold on for the win. But a Solon turnover led to a North Royalton touchdown and two point conversion, and Solon's final drive stalled. Khoury Crenshaw ran well for the Comets, topping 100 yards. The Comets take on Normandy next Friday at Stewart Field.
