Solon Science Olympiad Teams Honored At White House

Solon’'s two national champion Science Olympiad teams were honored Monday by President Barack Obama at the third annual White House Science Fair

Solon’s two national champion Science Olympiad teams were honored Monday by President Barack Obama at the third annual White House Science Fair. The event highlighted the achievements of student winners from major national science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) competitions. At least one of Solon’s Science Olympiad teams has been invited to each of the White House Science Fairs. Traveling to Washington for today’s event are Solon High School senior Stephanie Zhu and freshman Achuth Nair. Stephanie is representing the SHS team and Achuth is representing the SMS team. The students are accompanied by Science Olympiad advisers and Solon science teachers Donna Ross and Drew Kirian. Solon’s Science Olympiad teams made history in spring…

UPDATE: Solon Students To Be Honored By President Obama At White House

Four Solon High School students will be honored Tuesday during the White House Science Fair.

4:37 P.M. MONDAY UPDATE: Solon Schools has announced the names of the students who will be honored Tuesday at the White House. Solon High School's Andrew Mikofalvy, Lisa Guo, Katrina Mikofalvy and Kevin Sun will participate in the 2nd Annual White House Science Fair. Andrew Mikofalvy and Guo were on the high school science olympiad team last year and Katrina Mikofalvy and Sun were on the Solon Middle School team last season. Solon science teachers Donna Ross and Drew Kirian, who serve as the SHS and SMS Science Olympiad team coaches, are accompanying the students to the White House Science Fair and recognition ceremony.
