Interim Principal Appointed To Lead Parkside Elementary

The Solon School board appointed an interim principal at Parkside Elementary to replace the late Martha Keeney.

An assistant principal at Solon High School has been appointed to serve as interim principal at Parkside Elementary after the death of Martha Keeney. Erica Kosiorek was appointed to that role at Monday's Solon School Board meeting. Kosiorek will be at Parkside full time after winter break, and will use the time until then to prepare herself, Regano said. The school board also approved a supplemental contract for Patricia Petrie for administrative assistant duties at Parkside. Regano said Petrie has done an outstanding job helping out at Parkside …

Kotora Way Could Be on 2013 Ballot

Mike Cook is still in search of ways to rename Inwood Drive

Despite setbacks and confusion, Mike Cook plans to take his vision to the ballot. The 1989 Solon High School graduate still wants to rename Inwood Drive as Kotora Way and believes residents should vote on the issue. "I figured, what's an alternative? Cook realizes the November election is a long shot, so he's planning on bringing the name change to the ballot in September 2013. That way, his mission to honor former principal E. James Kotora won't lose attention to presidential and state elections. Cook first brought his idea to Solon City Council last fall. The city, which owns the street, …

Solon School Board Vacancy: Does 2011 Election Matter?

Should the Solon School Board consider the results of the 2011 election when appointing a new member to fill a vacancy? Take our poll and tell us!

The Solon School Board must consider many factors as they decide who to appoint to a vacant seat on the board. Should the will of the voters in the 2011 election be one of the factors they keep in mind? Take our poll and tell us! MORE: Read the resumes of the 11 applicants for the vacant seat Just six months ago, Solon voters went to the poll to pick three board members. The winners were Julie Glavin, Kevin Patton and Dorothy Seibert, who resigned her seat last month. Four of the 11 applicants to take over Seibert's seat ran in that election. The members of the Board have to remember that they serve at the voter's pleasure, just like any other politician. We choose who serves, not them. The next …   more ›
