Solon Swimmers, Divers Excel At State Meet

Diver Sivan Mills finished fifth and 11 swimmers recieved All-Ohio honors.

The Solon Comet swimmers and divers performed well at the State Meet this weekend. Four-time state qualifier, Sivan Mills, finished in 5th place at the Division 1 Girls OHSAA State Meet on Thursday. In swimming, six Solon girls and five boy swimmers earned All-Ohio in 8 events. Earning All-Ohio honors for the girl's team were: Anna Wong, Aurelia Sweeney, Allison Hoffman, Becca Hoffman, Jessica Jin and Halle Immormino. Earning all-state recognition for the boys were: Ryan Carson, Christopher Guo, Grant Pinchot, Patrick Tippen and Mark Lippert. Diver Mills was in second place after both the preliminary and semifinal rounds, but the margin separating the top six divers was razor close. Sivan, scored high marks on her final round dives and …

Solon Divers Soar At District Meet: Sivan Mills Is Champion

Six Solon divers competed in the Northeast Ohio Division 1 District Meet on Thursday at Cleveland State University.

Six Solon divers competed in the Northeast Ohio Division 1 District Meet on Thursday at Cleveland State University. They ended the day with a district champ, two state qualifiers, three on the medal stand, and five divers in the top ten. For the Comet Ladies, Senior Sivan Mills was District Champ with 457 points. Junior Chrissy Sharkus also had a great meet finishing in 8th place which put her on the medal stand. She just missed States by 3 points and one place and had her personal best! Sophomore Olivia Kreft made it to the final round and finished in the top ten. For the boys, freshman Antony Styrt earned a place at the state meet with an seventh place District finish. Solon's Sivan Mills Wins Diving Competition

Solon Divers Hit the Boards of the Canton Christmas Invitational while the Swimmers Competed in the Viking Invitational.

Editor's Note: The information in this post was provided by swimming/diving parent Estelle Mills. Solon High's swimmers and divers were in action this weekend and both performed well. The Solon High School Diving Team Headed down to Canton on Saturday December 15th to compete in the Christmas Invitational at the CT Branin Natatoruim in Canton.  The Lady Comet Divers competed in morning followed by the Boys Diving Team in the afternoon. Sivan Mills of the Lady Comets finished in first place in field of 34 divers, 49 points ahead of her nearest competitor.  The Lady Comets also finished with 2 other divers in the top ten. Solon Swimming And Diving Ready For Season

Comets swimmers and divers are ready for a successful season.

The Solon High School Swimming and Diving team began its season with just over fifty swimmers and divers on their roster at the first practice on Nov. 2.  The team will be led this year by girls captains Corrine Brown and Tanya Akl and boys captains Ryan Carson and Mark Lippert. The diving captain is Sivan Mills.  The roster includes 9 returning state qualifiers:  Diver Sivan Mills who was 6th place at last year's state meet, girls' swimmers, Becca Hoffman, Anna Wong, and Allison Hoffman who competed in the 200 free relay and finished in 14th place. Solon Diver Sivan Mills Commits to University of Pennsylvania

Mills, a standout diver for Solon High School, plans to dive in the Ivy League next year.

Sivan Mills, a senior at Solon High School, has committed to dive at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) of the Ivy League next year. Mills was recruited by a number of Division I programs and ultimately decided to take recruiting visits to Penn, Cornell and Tulane. "It was a difficult decision to choose among these great schools and strong programs, but ultimately I felt most comfortable at Penn," Mills said.  She was the Amateur Athletic Union’s (AAU) National Champion on the 3 meter springboard in 2012, and was also the bronze medalist on the 1 meter board. Sivan has been diving for the American Flyers Diving Club team since second grade and has been coached by Marc Cahalane over the last four years for her club and high school team. …

Solon Divers, Swimmers Perform Well At State Meet

Solon High School Swim and Diving Team Ends Season with one medalist and five other top 16 (All-Ohio) finishes. At the Division I, Swimming and Diving state meet held this weekend in Canton, Solon's Sivan Mills was on the medal stand after finishing in 6th place in a very tight competition for the top few spots. Also on the girls side, the 200 free relay team of Anna Wong, Becca Hoffman, Alli Hoffman, and Kelsey McRill finished in 14th place and the 200 Medley Relay team of Wong, Becca Hoffman, McRill, and Dana Lautenschleger finished in 16th place. On the boys side, Solon diver and senior, Doug Karn, ended his high school career with a 12th place finish at states. Junior Ryan Carson also had a 12th place finish in the 100 backstroke, …

Two Solon Divers Headed to State Meet

Doug Karn and Sivan Mills will compete at the State Meet in Canton, which begins Feb. 22

Two Solon divers, one from the boys team and the other from the girls, will compete in the State Meet in Canton later this month. Senior Doug Karn and Junior Sivan Mills both advanced from the District meet, which is going on right now at Cleveland State University. Karn finished sixth at the district meet to advance to states. Karn is returning to the state meet after competing there last season. Mills finished second at districts after a first place finish at the sectional meet. She returns to the state diving championship meet for the third year. She was named an All-American in her freshman and sophomore years.
