Giant Eagle in Solon has been rounding up shoplifters lately, and has caught two more people trying to steal merchandise, according to Solon Police reports. On Feb. 12, a 60-year-old Solon woman was caught by the store's loss prevention officers putting items in her purse. She also had a cart, and paid for the items in the cart but not in the purse. She was caught trying to steal about $45 worth of merchandise. She was charged with theft by the Solon Police. On Feb. 18, 40-year-old Maple Heights woman was caught stuffing items in her purse and trying to work from the store. She was caught by Giant Eagle staff with about $28 of unpaid merchandise. She was charged with theft and also arrested on a warrant from Shaker Heights.

A man and a women face charges after police say they tried to flee after shoplifting from Giant Eagle in Solon. On Jan.29, Giant Eagle called Solon Police to report a theft in progress by a woman who placed merchandise in her purse and left the store at Solon Village. The woman, a 37-year-old Cleveland woman, then hopped into a car driven by a 39-year-old Cleveland man. Police approached the car, and the woman got out fled on foot. Police caught up to her near Solon Boulevard. She gave false information to police and did not have the purse with the items. She was arrested and taken to Solon jail. Five people in the last 10 days have been charged with shoplifting after Solon Police say they were caught trying to steal goods from the store.
Giant Eagle, which is hard at work on a new store in Solon, hasn't been neglecting its current store. In the last 10 days, five people have been caught trying to shoplift goods from the existing supermarket at Solon Village, according to Solon Police reports. All of them were caught by the company's loss prevention officers while trying to take unpaid merchandise from the store. Here are details on the arrests. Remember, charges are not convictions.

Police are looking for a woman who Marc's employees say shoplifted from the Solon store and left her accomplice behind to face the music. According to the Solon Police report, two women were spotted by Marc's employees walking out of the store on SOM Center Road with a cart full of unpaid merchandise. Employees confronted the women in the parking lot, but the woman not pushing the court said she wasn't with the other woman and hurried off, according to the police report. The other woman, a 19-year-old Bedford Heights woman, was detained and is now facing a theft charge. The cart contained about $75 worth of unpaid goods from the store.

A 51-year-old Moreland Hills man was caught by an employee when he pocketed a candy bar at Miles Farmers Market, according to Solon Police. The man put the candy bar back, but then did something strange: He finished buying his groceries, then asked for the manager to complain about the employee who caught him. Police say the man was intoxicated and started fighting with the manager. Police say he pushed the manager to the ground. He was cited for disorderly conduct and given a written warning for criminal trespassing, according to the police report. He also is no longer allowed at Miles Farmers Market, police say.

A man and two women, all from Cleveland, were arrested and charged with theft after Solon Police say they caught them with stolen merchandise from Old Navy at Uptown Solon. On April 3 at about 1 p.m., the store called to report that they saw customers concealing items in their purses in the store, according to the police report. The police arrived, and were waiting for them when they exited the store. Police searched their car -- a rental from Maryland -- which had nine items from Old Navy and 24 items from H&M. The three could not produce receipts for the items. One of them, a 23-year-old man, was also charged with drug abuse because police say he was carrying 16 grams of marijuana.

Two women were charged Wednesday with receiving stolen property after Solon Police found nearly $3,000 in stolen Old Navy merchandise in their car. Arrested and charged after a traffic stop were Markqetta M. Petty, 19, and Jessica Mitchell, 24, both of Cleveland, according to a police report. Both were charged with receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony. At about 10:34 p.m. Wednesday, employees at Old Navy on Kruse Drive called police to report seeing four women shoplifting at the store and leaving in a white sports-utility vehicle with Florida license plates. A Solon woman was arrested after being accused of trying to steal $47.80 in personal grooming items from the store
A woman walked into Marc's on SOM Center Road with an empty purse. She left with it stuffed to the brim. But the woman, a 38-year-old Solon resident, did not get far. According to a police report, She was apprehended by a Marc's security employee and taken to the office. There, the woman tried to remove a number of hair barrettes from her bra and drop them in the trash. All told, the woman attempted to steal 18 personal grooming items worth $47.80.
