Don't Be Mad Dallas: Comet Corner Picks Against Buckeyes

Don't tell Solon alum and Buckeye baller Dallas Lauderdale that Comet Corner picked the Jayhawks to down the Buckeyes in the championship game

Filling out an NCAA bracket is not for the faint of heart. Winning one is next to impossible. I figure my odds this year are about the same as Charlie Sheen making it through the Gettysburg Address without comparing Abraham Lincoln to a warlock. For those of you who enjoy wagering a dollar or two just remember that these selections are for entertainment purposes only. I usually send them along to my friends in Las Vegas so they can have a good laugh for the day. Our top-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes (featuring Solon grad Dallas Lauderdale) somehow have one of the toughest roads to the Final Four. OSU must get by teams such as Kentucky, Syracuse and North Carolina just to have a shot at the title. Kansas has a much easier road while Duke and …

Solon High School's Dallas Lauderdale Helping Buckeyes to the Top of the Polls

Lauderdale is now the grizzled veteran and role model for younger players

When Dallas Lauderdale was a freshman on the Ohio State basketball team, he looked to the upperclassmen for guidance. Four years later, Lauderdale is the grizzled veteran who serves as a steadying influence on a team that seems destined for a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. The 6-foot-8, 260-pound Lauderdale is as dominant a defender and shot blocker as he was at Solon High School when the Comets went unbeaten in four years of Western Reserve Conference action. He ranks fifth in Ohio State history in career blocks, leading the Big Ten in blocks as a junior last season while shooting an incredible 77 percent from the floor.
