Solon Girl Attacked After Shooshing Teens in Movie Theater

The information in this report is from the Solon Police. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

A 13-year-old Solon girl was attacked in the lobby of Solon Cinemas after she shooshed another group of teenagers during a showing of a movie, according to Solon Police. According to the report, the 13-year-old and her 12-year-old friend were watching "Red Dawn" at the movie theater on Dec. 9. Another group of girls were talking during the movie, and the 13-year-old told police she "shooshed" them to get them to be quiet. After the movie, the other girls confronted the victim in the lobby, and the confrontation turned physical. The girl told police she was hit, had her hair pulled and was knocked to the ground. Police are investigating the incident.

After the Aurora, Colo., shootings and other incidents, Smith "felt fear" going to the movie by himself, attorney Matthew Bruce said.  "He brought (the weapons) in with him purely for self-defense," Bruce said. "He had no intent to harm, scare or threaten anyone." Smith was arrested after off-duty Westlake police officer Jeremiah Bullins, who was working security for Regal Cinema that night, approached Smith, who was sitting in the back row of the still-empty theater, and searched his bag.
