Solon Woman On a Mission Against Cancer

Stacy Starkoff has fought through her cancer to organize a Cycle for Survival event in Solon that has, so far, raised nearly $119,000 so far

Stacy Starkoff’s life changed one day in 2007 when she felt a hard lump in her stomach. The Solon resident and mother of two young children went to the doctor and received a nightmare diagnosis. It was cancer, a rare form called liposarcoma, and there was no roadmap for treatment. Today, the 41-year-old Starkoff is still fighting – not only for her own health, but she is also doing her part to wage the larger war against cancer. Starkoff spent the past several months organizing a Cycle for Survival event in Solon, scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday at the Solon Community Center. The event, called “Mission Cleveland” has so far raised nearly $119,000 to fund research and treatment efforts against rare cancers at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer…
