Congratulations to the Girls indoor team on winning states last weekend.
The Solon girls indoor track and field team won the state championship on Saturday, a feat that included a number of great individual performances. According to Solon Athletics, the girls team won the state meet held in Akron on Saturday. Here are some individual results from the meet: Congrats Comets!
Solon Track & Field Star dominated at Indoor Track State Championships last weekend
Whiz Kid of the Week: A.J. Hicks Age: High school senior School: Solon High School Accomplishment: A.J. Hicks, the senior co-captain of the boys' indoor track team, collected two of the greatest throws in the county last weekend, winning two indoor track individual championships. Key to Awesomeness: Hicks threw 70 feet,7.75 inches in the weight throw. That was good enough to break the Division I indoor state meet record and is, right now, the 7th best throw in the country. Hicks also won the state championship in the shot put, hurling the shot 61 feet, 4.75 inches to win that event. That throw is the 11th-best in the nation. Hicks will attend the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill next fall on a track and field scholarship.
