UPDATED 12:00 P.M. TUESDAY: Power is slowly being restored in Solon. According to First Energy, about 378 power customers in Solon are still without electricity. Hurricane Sandy hit ground in New York City late Sunday and into early Monday morning, according to Carroll Gardens Patch on the east coast of New York. And this isn't even the heaviest part of the storm. Nearly all of NYC is shut down, including press agencies, city schools and colleges, public transportation and more. Residents are experiencing steady rainfall and wind gusts are expected to get up to 65 miles an hour today. So how are the East Coast Patches handling the storm? Power outages are expected across Northeast Ohio due to strong winds from Hurricane Sandy.
Thousands of customers who have lost power in Northeast Ohio could remain without power until tomorrow afternoon, according to FirstEnergy. Most of the outages are in Cleveland and inner ring suburbs such as Cleveland Heights. As of 11 p.m. Oct. 29, Solon had about than 160 power outages. Spokesperson Mark Durbin said that these outages are generally due to high winds brought on by Hurricane Sandy, but added that crews are in a tough spot when it comes to repairs. "We are currently in a situation where, until the wind stops blowing, we’re not going to have a good handle on restoration time," he said.
