Fighting the Food War
A play and panel discussion at Hillcrest Hospital tackled the difficult topic of eating disorders
Fairmont Center of the Arts actors captured the essence of eating disorders in their engaging performance of Eat (It’s Not About Food) Thursday evening at Hillcrest Hospital. The performance was part of a multifaceted presentation by Your Teen and Hillcrest Hospital. The event was also sponsored in part by the Solon High School PTA. Pre-teens and parents, coaches and teachers sat in rows watching a play low on special effects but high on content and feeling and with little moralizing or preaching. The play followed Amy, a 14-year-old, in her battle with an eating disorder. It depicted her little tricks, her self-loathing, and her final turning point when she said about her friend: “I didn’t think she was going to die.” The play was not…
