The Solon Comets take on defending state champions Strongsville at 3 p.m. today at Rocky River High School in the Regional Championship match.
The best girls soccer team in the history of Solon High School continues its dream run through the playoffs today. The Lady Comets take on the defending state champion Strongsville Mustangs at 3 p.m. today at Rocky River High School in the Regional Championship match. The winner heads to the Division I final four. There are no pre-sale tickets for game and all tickets will be sold at the gate for $6. The 18-2 Comets defeated Massillon Jackson 2-0 in the semi-final game on Thursday night for a chance to play the Mustangs, who defeated Mentor 1-0 and hold a 19-1 record. Good luck Comets!

Solon girls soccer defeated Massillon Jackson 2-0 on Thursday to advance to the Regional Championship match. The Comets will play Strongsville on Saturday. The game will be played at 3 p.m. in Rocky River.

The Solon Lady Comet Soccer Team is heading to the Regional Championship game. The Comets defeated Massillon Jackson 2-0 on Thursday behind goals by Maria Collica and Mika Williams. Goalie Kristen Confroy preserved the shutout. Collica opened the scoring with a goal at the 21 minute and Williams cushioned the lead in the 65th minute. Solon, now 18-2, will play Strongsville in Rocky River. That game is set to begin at 3 p.m. Saturday. The Comets are one of the eight Division 1 teams remaining in the state. If they win on Saturday, they make it to the final four and a chance to play in the championship game at Columbus Crew Stadium on Nov. 9. Congratulations Comets. Good luck!

The girls defeated Cuyahoga Falls 4-0 behind two goals from Ari Daukks.
The Lady Comets soccer team defeated Cuyahoga Falls 4-0 on Oct. 18 to advance to the next round of the state playoffs. The Comets were led by a strong defense and two goals from Air Daukks. Up next for Solon is a matchup against Kent Roosevelt, who defeated Twinsburg on penalty kicks last night. Solon and Kent will play on Oct. 23 in the district semi-final match. The Comets are the top seed in the district. Congrats Comets!

The Solon Comets girls soccer team defeated Cardinal Mooney 5-0.
The Solon Lady Comets traveled to Youngstown last weekend and crushed Cardinal Mooney 5-0. Dominating the match from the very start, the Lady Comets kept the Cardinals scoreless while putting the ball into the net five times. Goals were scored by Natalie Ockunzzi (2), Hannah Schippers (2) and Maddie Kresevic. The Comets next game will be against Mentor at home on Thursday night. Go Comets! Boys will take on Aurora and girls get rematch with Brecksville
Only the strong survive in the post-season playoffs. And the boys and girls soccer teams from Solon are getting stronger every day. The Comet boys needed a Golden Goal in overtime to advance to the Division I district finals with a 2-1 victory over Hudson. The top-seeded Comets host fourth-seeded Aurora tonight at 7 p.m in hopes of gaining a regional semifinal berth next week. The Lady Comet booters continued their standout season with a 2-0 victory over Hudson Tuesday night. Solon, 14-2-1 overall, avenged a regular season loss to the Explorers and has a chance to pull off the same feat at 3 p.m. Saturday when the Lady Comets play at Brecksville, the only other team to knock them off this season. Schippers scores hat trick, Russell posts two goals to lead Comets to victory
Solon girls’ soccer player Natalia Kontul jokingly asked coach David FitzGerald if her braid looked OK just before tipoff against Parma. FitzGerald had her spin around and confirm it was fine. Kontul’s charming request reflected the ease and comfort the Comets felt on Wednesday night, not to mention for most of this young season, as they bounced around another foe with host Parma serving as the latest foil in a 7-0 win at Byers Field. Nationally ranked and climbing only higher, Solon’s bubbly and giggly disposition seemingly masked a deadly efficient offense and an impenetrable defense that didn’t yield a shot on goal for the game.
