A 28-year-old man was hit with drug charges after he was pulled over for driving with a suspended license, according to Solon Police. The man, a resident of Bristolville, was pulled over in Solon on Jan. 20 for driving with a suspended license. A search of the car by police officers found a hypodermic needle suspected of being used to inject heroin, according to a police report. He was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and driving under suspension, according to police.

A roundup of Solon Police reports: Theft: A 54-year-old Park East resident reported on Sept. 6 at 12:36 p.m. that someone cut the catalytic converter from his 1999 Honda minivan while it was parked in the garage of the apartment complex. The theft occurred sometime between 9:00 p.m. on Sept. 5 and 6:30 a.m. Sept. 6. The cost to replace the converter is $329.00. Criminal Damaging: On Sept. 6 at 10:06 a.m., a 40-year-old Solon resident reported that someone slashed a tire on her 2008 Cadillac while it was parked at the high school between 7:20 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. The cost of a replacement was not immediately known. A beer truck driver was charged with drunken driving and drug abuse after Solon Police say he nearly caused a crash pulling his truck out of a gas station on March 12. According to the police report, the 49-year-old driver from Rome, Ohio, was pulling out of Sunmart on Aurora Road at about 3:30 a.m. on March 12. The report says the tractor trailer pulled across incoming traffic and nearly caused a crash. Police searched the truck and found marijuana and a pipe in a cooler. He took a field sobriety test and registered a blood-alcohol rating of .137. The driver, David A. Shaefer, 49, was charged with drunken driving, drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. The truck was handed over to Superior Beverage, the driver's employer.

A 19-year-old Solon man wanted on two warrants was arrested Feb. 28 after the man was found "passed out" in the lobby of an apartment building. At about 4:28 a.m. on Feb. 28, a resident of Monroe Court called Solon Police to saw a a man was passed out in the lobby of his building. Roused by police, the man said he had been staying with a friend but had been kicked out. He decided to sleep in the lobby because it was warm. The man, Benjamin Green, had two outstanding arrest warrants issued by Solon police for failure to appear to court, according to a police report. Police also charged Green with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia after police said they found marijuana, according to the report.

A 42-year-old Cleveland man was pulled over on US 422 on Oct. 18 for hauling a trailer with no working lights, according to Solon police. When the officer approached the truck, reports said the driver, Michael D. Kuhl, was acting nervous. When the officer asked for proof of insurance, Kuhl handed over his medical insurance card, police said. Upon searching the truck, the officer found an ASP baton, which is the same baton police officers use, according to police. The officer also found marijuana, a marijuana pipe and grinder. Police charged Kuhl with carrying a concealed weapon, drug abuse and possessing drug paraphernalia.

On Oct. 13, an officer patrolling on State Route 91 pulled over a truck for an equipment violation and happened upon much more than just a citation. According to Solon police, the officer walked up to the car and saw a large knife concealed under the leg of the driver. Everyone was taken out of the car, and after checking IDs, the officer found that the passenger was wanted on a warrant from the Solon Police Department for failing to appear in court. Officers arrested Lea Marozzi, 21, of Ravenna, and charged her with driving with a suspended license and concealed carry, police said.
