Dorothy Seibert resigned from the Solon School Board May 1 after serving for 24 years. Here's reactions from her colleagues on her years of service: Superintendent Joe Regano: "Dorothy’s insight has been a hallmark on the Board for many years. She always kept a keen eye on balancing the needs of the community with the needs of our students. But at no time did she waiver in her determination to ensure the Solon Schools were continually improving and providing the best possible academic program for our students. Words alone can express the gratitude of everyone in the Solon Schools for the commitment of time and energy she gave to the district for 24 years." Dororthy Seibert, who served on the school board for 24 years, is moving to Florida.
Dorothy Seibert is stepping down from the Solon Board of Education. Seibert, who has served on the school board for 24 years and recently was re-elected to a new term, submitted a letter of resignation today. Her resignation is effective Tuesday, May 1. Seibert is resigning because she and her husband sold their home and are moving to Florida. "When we placed our home on the market in late February, we had no idea when it would sell. We had heard so many stories about homes taking years to sell," Seibert wrote in her letter. "Due to the excellence of the schools and the city and our wonderful neighborhood, the house sold immediately." Seibert and her husband, Ned, have owned a condo in Florida for some time and ultimately planned to retire…

Kevin Patton is the newest school board member after winning Tuesday's election
If the voters sent any message on Election Day, it was that they wanted continuity and familiar faces on the Solon school board. Incumbents Julie Glavin and Dorothy Seibert swept Tuesday's election with 4,285 and 3,527 votes, respectively, and Kevin Patton, a former Solon mayor, was chosen to fill the board's vacancy, earning 3,601 votes, according to unofficial results from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. Julie Glavin, Dorothy Seibert and Kevin Patton won seats on the Solon school board Tuesday.
Former Solon Mayor Kavin Patton will join incumbents Julie Glavin and Dorothy Seibert on the Solon school board. Glavin received the most votes with 4,285 followed by Patton with 3,601 and Seibert with 3,527, according to unofficial results from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. The three candidates defeated Chris Bryant, Robert Paulson, Ken Myers and John Heckman. Board member Roger Goudy's decision not run for re-election left an uncontested seat open. That left a space open for Patton. "I want to say thank you to the Solon voters for their expression of confidence to move me over to the board," Patton said. "I've had an interest in this for a long time and I was lucky enough to serve in the city's municipal government for a number…

Who do you support for the Solon School board. Take our poll and tell us in the comments which three candidates have your vote.
With the Solon City Council race being uncontested, the election for Solon School Board is the only race on the Solon ballot that pits local candidates against each other. And with board member Roger Goudy deciding earlier this year that he wasn't going to run for re-election, there will be at least one new board member this year. While you will be voting for three candidates on Nov. 8, take our poll to tell us what candidate is your favorite. Then head down to the comments and tell us why that candidate has your support and, while you're at it, explain what other two candidates you plan to vote for. To learn more about the candidates, head over to our Solon Patch's Election Central and read our biographical profiles of each candidate. …

Six of the seven candidates running for three school board seats answered questions at the Solon Community Center Tuesday night
The SouthEast Republicans hosted a school board candidate's night on Tuesday at the Solon Community Center. There are seven candidates running to fill three seats. Candidate Kevin Patton did not attend the forum because he was out of town on a business obligation he could not miss. Candidates had a chance to give an opening statement, then they each had two minutes to answer six questions given by SouthEast Republicans President Dennis Tidmore. Those questions were followed by inquiries from the audience and closing statements. This is the second forum the candidates have attended. Here's a quick look at what the candidates had to say on topics such as Issue 2, the district's retire/rehire process and the possibility of pay-to-play. …
