Arraignment Set for Man Accused of Car, Snow Blower Thefts

Maurice Jones allegedly stole four cars and three snow blowers from Solon homes between November and February

An arraignment date has been set for the man accused of stealing four vehicles and three snow blowers between November and February. Maurice Jones, a 42-year-old Cleveland man, is scheduled to appear June 12 in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court for 14 counts of burglary, breaking and entering and grand theft of a motor vehicle. All incidents allegedly occurred in Solon. Here's a rundown of Jones' reported thefts, according to Solon Police: All incidents were reported within less than a half-mile of each other. Solon Police Detective Thomas Terwilliger presented DNA evidence from one of the vehicles in May to a grand jury. READ: City's Legal Defense Against Deitrick Lawsuit

The city denies Sally Deitrick's allegations against the city and the mayor, arguing that the lawsuit was designed to "embarrass and harass the mayor and the city without any basis in law."

Attorneys for Solon were in court last week to defend the city and Mayor Susan Drucker against a wrongful firing lawsuit filed by the mayor's former secretary. Attached to this post is the motion to dismiss and their counter to Deitrick's original lawsuit, which were filed in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on Dec. 28. Representing the city is Nancy Barnes from Thompson Hine, which was hired by the city to handle the case, and Law Director Thomas Lobe.
