If you want to get a real feel for who Aaron is, just read ths post that he made over in another thread: "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Who Did You Endorse for President? Barack Obama or Mitt Romney

We asked Patch readers last week to share their endorsements and invited them to blog about it. Here's a round up of what YOU said.

Last week we asked you, the Patch readers, to share your political opinions and you certainly answered.  Our story asking for your comments in reaction to three of the state's major newspaper endorsements for presidential candidates attracted more than 400 comments. And in our unscientific poll, 56 percent of you endorsed Mitt Romney for president. As promised, here's a round up of political blogs posted to Patch sites in Ohio over the last week. Don't see a blog from your town? It's not too late to have your say. And it's easy to blog.  Just go to your home Patch site and click on the "start a blog" link under the editor's top four stories of the day (on the mid left side of the page).   Remember, a blog doesn't have to be War and Peace. …

I agree with you A. Four years ago I observed something that I've never observed before. The Wall Street banks completely melted down. Our housing market totally collapsed. I never thought that in 4 years time: "Happy days would be here again" With our disadvantage vis a vis the cheap global labor market, I doubt that 4 years from now "Happy days will be hear again". The depression lasted 11 …   more ›

Campaign Contributions: How Much Have Your Neighbors Given to Romney and Obama?

Search our interactive campaign contribution database.

Editor's Note: The data in the database and this story have been updated as of Oct. 23. Many more Solon residents have contributed to President Barack Obama's campaign than to Republican Nominee Mitt Romney, accoding to federal election data. But Romney does have an advantage. More donors who coughed up big bucks -- those who cut checks for $1,000 -- gave to Romney. Eight donors gave more than $1,000 to Romney, including four who contributed $2,500. Obama had four donors give more than $1,000. But more than 84 percent of the contributions by Solon residents -- 228 of 268 -- were given to the Obama campaign. Patch has created an interactive database so you can see how much your neighbors are donating to the presidential campaign—and to …

Local Debate Reaction: Democrats Think Obama Won, Republicans Side with Romney

Both parties thought the debate would earn their candidate more Ohio votes.

The outcome of the third and final presidential debate again depends on who you support—local Democrats overwhelmingly thought that President Barack Obama won, while local Republicans said the debate belonged to Mitt Romney.  But many members of both parties were sure that the national media would declare Obama the winner. About 86 percent of the Democrats thought that would be the case—the rest thought it would be declared neutral—and about 48 percent of Republicans thought the media would give the debate to Obama. Only 28 percent thought it would go to Romney, with the rest saying the media would declare it neutral. The surveys were part of Patch’s Red/Blue Northeast Ohio series. There were 25 local Republicans and 14 local Democrats who…

The Final Presidential Debate: Who Won?

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney met up for the third and final debate Monday night—who do you think should be declared the winner?

With the third and final presidential debate complete, Patch wants to know: who do you think won? President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney met at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, on Oct. 22 to debate matters of foreign policy. The topics ranged from America's role in the world to pulling the troops out of Afghanistan. The candidates even left foreign policy at times to discuss some domestic issues, like education. Who do you think won Monday’s debate? Take our poll and tell us why in the comments. Check back on Tuesday to see what Patch's Red/Blue Northeast Ohio poll participants thought about the final debate.

Yup, I believe that is very true. I also read in the paper tonight that most people feel the economy is improving and will continue to improve over atleast the next year. We'll then if our good pres doesn't get back in everyone will be saying see--we told you Romney would do better, when it really was Obama. Just like their trying to blame him for the economy now, when it was the previous admr. …   more ›

Plain Dealer, Beacon Journal Endorse Barack Obama for President. Do you? POLL

Both newspapers endorsed the president over his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, but with less enthusiasm than they did four years ago. We want to hear what you think.

In this, the so-called swing state of Ohio, two of today's three Ohio major newspaper endorsements went to President Barack Obama. In the Plain Dealer's endorsement, the editorial board said Ohio benefitted from Obama's decision to help the auto industry and that he pulled the nation back from "the brink of" depression. But they weren't as enthusiastic as they were four years ago. The Beacon Journal in Akron also endorsed Obama today. They like the president's "direction, spirit and priorities," but also said "errors have been made." The Columbus Dispatch endorsed his Republican opponent, Mitt Romney today. They said the country needs a new direction and that the president is unsuited to a second term. But at Patch, it's all about what you…

Local Debate Reaction: Democrats Think Obama Won, While Republicans Support Romney

Respondents from both parties thought the national media would declare Barack Obama the winner.

So who won Tuesday night’s debate? Depends on who you ask.  Local Democrats surveyed by Patch were enthusiastic about the second presidential debate, with all respondents saying that President Barack Obama won, and most saying that he won by a wide margin. They were also confident that the national media would declare the president the overall winner of the night. The local Republicans Patch surveyed had faith in their candidate, but they weren’t as confident in the media. The majority thought Mitt Romney won, with a few calling the debate neutral and one saying that Obama came out as the winner. But nearly half said that Obama would be declared the winner by the national media; only about 28 percent thought that Romney would be.  Some of …
