Man Indicted For Solon Bank Robbery Gets 11 Years in Prison for Other Robberies

Ralphel A. Penn, 25, of Stow, pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery last week.

A man indicted for a July bank robbery in Solon was sentenced to 11 years in prison for two other bank robberies in Summit County. Ralphel A. Penn, 25, of Stow was sentenced by Judge Elinore Marsh Stormer to 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to robbery charges last week.  Penn pleaded guilty at Summit County Common Pleas Court to one count of aggravated robbery and robbery.  According to authorities, Penn robbed a Charter One Bank in Northfield Village in August and a bank in Akron about a week later. In both instances, Penn handed a note to the teller threating to shoot if money wasn't handed over. No gun was seen, according to earlier reports. Man Indicted in Connection With Solon Bank Robbery

Ralphel A. Penn, 25, was indicted on one count of robbery in connection with a July bank robbery at Ohio Savings Bank in Solon.

A Stow man has been indicted for robbery by a Cuyahoga County grand jury in connection with the July robbery of the Ohio Savings Bank in Solon. Ralphel A. Penn, 25, of Stow, is currently an inmate at the Summit County Jail on charges connected to bank robberies in Akron and Northfield Village. On July 6, a man entered the Ohio Savings Bank located at 34206 Aurora Road, Solon, and handed a note to a teller demanding $3,000 in cash, according to Solon Police.  No weapon was seen.  He was given a small amount of $1 bills in a packet and he immediately left the scene, fleeing on foot.  He was not caught at the time. Akron Police Searching For Man Linked To Recent Solon Bank Robbery

The following information was supplied by the Akron Police Department.

The Akron Police Department is asking for help finding a 25-year-old Stow man, who they say may be involved in three recent bank robberies, including one in Solon.  Police said Ralphel Antonio Penn of Stow is accused of robbing a First Merit Bank in Akron on Aug. 17. Officials added Penn may have also been involved in bank robberies in Northfield Village and Solon. Penn entered a First Merit Bank at the 800 block of Brittain Road around 11 a.m. Aug. 17 and handed a teller a note demanding money, according to police. Officers said in a report that the bank teller gave Penn an undisclosed amount of cash and Penn fled. Bank Robbery Update: Thief Got Away With $200 in Singles

The police report provided more details on the bank robbery last week at Ohio Savings Bank in Solon.

The police report form the July 6 robbery of the Ohio Savings Bank in Solon shed more light on the crime. Authorities are still searching for the robber, who is described as a middle-aged black man with a scruffy beard and tattoos on both arms. Sometime after 4 p.m. July 6, a man entered the Ohio Savings Bank on Aurora Road and slipped a note to the teller that read: "$3,000 now," according to the Solon Police report. The teller, thinking the man was a customer trying to withdraw cash, asked for his social security number. The police report said the man then changed his tone and said "listen to me" to the teller. The tell did not have $3,000, but gave the man a pack of singles totaling $200. The man then ran off and fled the scene on foot…

Bank Robbed in Solon; Suspect At Large

The Ohio Savings Bank branch on Aurora Road in Solon was robbed this afternoon, according to Solon Police. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and is at large. He is described as a black male, middle age, scruffy beard, with tattoos on both arms.  He was wearing a blue t-shirt, blue long pants and a tan baseball hat at the time of the robbery. At about 4:10 p.m. July 6, Police received a hold-up alarm from the Ohio Savings Bank branch located at 34206 Aurora Road.  The robber handed the teller a note demanding cash and no weapon was seen. He left with an as yet undisclosed sum of money on foot, heading southbound through a construction site behind the bank. No arrests have been made, no suspect has been identified as of yet.  …
