Young Wrestler Overcomes Heart Defects, Comes Out on Top in Tournament

The mother of the 6-year-old champion wants to raise awareness about heart defects to help other families going through what she calls a "roller coaster ride."

Parkside Elementary School first grader Eric Boykin, who is all of 40 pounds, just started wrestling a few months ago and he's already an award-winning wrestler in Ohio.  Eric, who will turn 7 on April 16, struggles with opponents on the mats, but he's had a far tougher struggle with undiagnosed heart defects since he was born.  The champ went through two open heart surgeries which has put the Boykin family through what his mother, Holly, describes as a "tremendous roller coaster ride." Stewart Field Getting New Turf

The all-purpose field at Solon High's Stewart Field is getting a new, more advanced type of FieldTurf installed this summer.

Solon's athletes and musicians will have a new field to compete on next school year. He said the existing field is FieldTurf, but this new kind is a more advanced type and is a very-high…

Lady Comets Take on Lady Tigers in Regional Finals

Who will make it to the Final Four?

Both the Solon and Twinsburg High School girls basketball teams are just a few games away from a state championship — but what team will advance for a chance at the title?  The Lady Comets will play the Lady Tigers at 7:30pm at the Canton Memorial Civic Center in a heated matchup.  The Solon team beat Mentor 61-55 Tuesday to advance to Friday's matchup, according to the Solon Athletics website.  The Tigers, who are now perfect on the season, defeated Hudson March 2 to win the Akron District championship. If they advance and win in the finals, it will be the team's third consecutive team championship.
