More cars have been broken into in Solon, this time three of them at Grantwood Golf Course. Solon Police have investigated a number of car break-ins in recent months. The break-ins are similar in that they've occured in parking lots in which backseat windows have been smashed out and laptops have bee stolen from the cars. The recent thefts at Grantwood all fit this mold, with the rear windows of a Cadillac CTS, a GMS Acadia and a Honda Pilot were broken into and contents stolen from the cars, including laptops, briefcases, and other items, according to police reports. About $2,600 worth of items were stolen from the cars, according to the police reports. The thefts occured on the evening of May 7, between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Firefighters were called to smoke on the east side of the building about 9:40 a.m. and reported to police that there was someone living there. Officers located a man walking to the area, who admitted to having a fort and cooking. The said he believed he had gotten permission to camp there. He agreed to gather up his belongings and move on. Miles Road in Solon is closed between Naiman Parkway and Brainard Road after a water main broke in the eastbound lanes, reports our partner WEWS Channel 5. Cleveland Water Department crews are at the scene working to stop the water flow and begin repairs. The arrest on SOM Center Road of a home invasion suspect on May 3 led to two Solon Schools being locked down, according to Solon Police. Arrested and charged with burglary was Airrion Stroud, 19, of Bedford. He was taken to Solon Jail. Burglary is a second-degree felony. The home invasion occured on Ayleshire Drive at about 12:20 p.m. May 3, when a woman who was in the home called 911 to tell police that a man had entered her home. According to the police report, the woman heard the doorbell ring multiple times and then later heard someone enter the garage and shout "Hello?" The woman was in an upstairs bedrooms, so she went out into the hallway, which looked down into the first floor of the house. She saw a man in the home. She went to …

Solon spent as much as $132,719 on its deer culling program this year, about $50,000 less than last year. Sharpshooters with the U.S. Department of Agriculture killed about 200 deer this past winter. That contract, which expires at the end of July, was formally approved by city council Monday. Also included in the contract is a proposed fee of $14,000 to perform an aerial visual survey to gain an accurate count of Solon's remaining deer population. This was the second year that the USDA has been hired to run Solon's sharpshooting efforts. The goal of the program is to slash Solon's deer population to reduce car wrecks caused by deer. Solon officials have said Solon has more deer than the city's geography can handle. The program is …

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for information which would lead to the capture of fugitive Deandre Peterson.
Deandre Peterson is wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff for escape, the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for conditions of release violations and the Cleveland Division of Police for domestic violence. Peterson had an original charge of drug possession. The domestic violence charge stems from an incident when Peterson kicked in the door at the home belonging to the mother of his child in January of this year. Peterson, 31, is a black male standing approximately 5’09” and weighing 183 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Authorities suspect Peterson is hiding out somewhere in Cleveland. Solon Police are investigating two attempted abductions at the Park East Apartments, according to Solon Police. Police said there will be an increased police presence while detectives investigate the incidents. On Wednesday, a woman reported that a man tried to grab her and gain entry into her apartment. The woman screamed and the man fled into the woods, according to police. On Tuesday, police said a 17-year-old girl was standing outside of her apartment at the 34000 block of Park East around 10:15 p.m. April 30 when a man tried to pull her by the arm. The girl was able to escape by screaming and striking him with keys, according to the police report. Police said the suspect had a yellow shirt over his face, showing only his eyes. Those …
