You can help out the hungry today by picking up a few extra non-perishables for the Stamp Out Hunger food drive by the National Association of Letter Carriers and the .
Letter carriers will be picking up donations when they deliver the mail on Saturday. Leave a sturdy bag of non-perishable food -- boxed pasta, canned vegetables and fruit, canned soup, rice, dried beans, cereal -- at your mailbox before Saturday's mail delivery and you carrier will collect it.
According to Feeding America, one in six Americans are dealing with hunger. More than 50 million Americans, including 17 million children, live in households where hunger is an issue. Hunger means that people miss meals, or go days without food, or don't have regular access to enough food or nutritious food.
