Solon Librarians Share Their Summer Reading Recommendations: For Children

Looking for something good to read this summer? Want to find a good book to read to your young one, or a ripping adventure yarn to help get your teen into reading?

The Solon librarians are here to help!

Solon Patch reached out to Branch Manager Lane Edwards, who provided us with three recommended reading lists, provided by the librarians. There's lists for children, teens and adults.

We'll be running one of the list's for the next three days, so make sure you check them out. Up first is recommendations for children!

Ghost Knight by Cornelia Funke

Eleven-year-old Jon Whitcroft and new friend Ella summon the ghost of Sir William Longspee, who may be able to protect Jon from a group of ghosts that threatens him harm from the day he arrives at Salisbury Cathedral's boarding school.  

The Hop by Sharelle Byars Moranville

What could a toad named Tad and a girl named Taylor possibly have in common? Quite a lot actually! They are both trying to save the land they love from becoming a mini strip mall, and their stories overlap and intertwine as this magical tale unfolds. Told from the unique points of view of a toad and a young girl, The Hop will have you rooting for this unlikely team as they attempt to accomplish the impossible.

The Humming Room by Ellen Potter

Hiding is Roo Fanshaw's special skill. Living in a frighteningly unstable family, she often needs to disappear at a moment's notice.
