The Hop by Sharelle Byars Moranville

What could a toad named Tad and a girl named Taylor possibly have in common? Quite a lot actually! They are both trying to save the land they love from becoming a mini strip mall, and their stories overlap and intertwine as this magical tale unfolds. Told from the unique points of view of a toad and a young girl, The Hop will have you rooting for this unlikely team as they attempt to accomplish the impossible.

The Humming Room by Ellen Potter

Hiding is Roo Fanshaw's special skill. Living in a frighteningly unstable family, she often needs to disappear at a moment's notice. When her parents are murdered, it's her special hiding place under the trailer that saves her life.  As it turns out, Roo, much to her surprise, has a wealthy if eccentric uncle, who has agreed to take her into his home on Cough Rock Island. Once a tuberculosis sanitarium for children of the rich, the strange house is teeming with ghost stories and secrets. Roo doesn't believe in ghosts or fairy stories, but what are those eerie noises she keeps hearing? And who is that strange wild boy who lives on the river? People are lying to her, and Roo becomes determined to find the truth.

Heidi Heckelbeck has a secret by Wanda Coven

Forced to hide her identity as a witch when she enters public school, 8-year-old Heidi finds her acceptance instantly compromised by the mean-spirited Melanie, who spreads nasty rumors and compels Heidi to risk exposing herself by casting vengeful spells.

Trouble Twisters by Garth Nix

When their house mysteriously explodes and they are sent to live with an unknown relative named Grandma X, twelve-year-old twins Jaide and Jack Shield learn that they are troubletwisters, young Wardens just coming into their powers, who must protect humanity from The Evil trying to break into Earth's dimension.
