Week 10: Strongsville at Solon, 7 p.m. Tonight

Solon hopes to end the regular season on a high note against the Mustangs from Strongsville.

This is it: The final regular season game for the Solon Comets football squad. The Comets are 8-1 and humming along.

Hoping to force the Comets to 8-2 is the Strongsville Mustangs, who will be visiting Stewart Field tonight.

1. Game Time: 7 p.m. tonight at 's Stewart Field.

2. Playoffs!? Playoffs!?: If the season ended now, Solon is second in Region 1 in computer points with 23.7 points. Don't ask us to explain how the points work, just know that the top eight teams in each region makes the playoffs.

While a playoff berth is assured, if Solon takes care of business tonight, the Comets will likely hosting a playoff game next Saturday at Stewart Field.

The playoff matchups will be posted on the Ohio High School Athletic Association website after week 10.

3. Matchup History: The all-time series between Solon and Strongsville is tied at 11 wins for each team. The Comets defeated the Mustangs 31-28 last year in an instant classic featuring the heroics of former quarterback and defensive back Chris Humphrey.

"Anytime Solon and Strongsville play you can count on a good game," said Solon Head Coach Jim McQuaide. "We have tremendous respect for Coach [Russ] Jacques and the Mustangs. We know they will be ready to play on Friday night and we must bring an attitude of intensity into this week. There’s no looking past the task at hand."

4. Week 10 Success: Solon has recently been very good in the final game of the season. They have a 6-2 in week 10 since 2003. The last two years, those wins have come over Strongsville.
