Too Much Trubisky, Again: Solon Falls To Mentor 56-28

Solon gave up 21 first quarter points to Mentor, and the Cardinals never looked back.

Mentor quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw six touchdown passes as the Cardinals defeated Solon 56-28.

Solon falls to 4-3 and Mentor is now 6-1.

The Comets had two special teams mistakes early and gave up 21 first quarter points to Mentor. The Cardinals had 42 points at halftime.

Mentor's standout quarterback Trubisky threw for more than 300 yards to go along with his six touchdown passes. Nick Delisa ran for one touchdown and caught two more. Brandon Fritts scored three touchdowns each. Conner Krizancic also snagged a touchdown catch.

Solon put some offense together in the second half but the late scoring wasn't enough to overcome Mentor's cushion.

Sophomore quarterback Ryan Gallagher threw three touchdown passes, connecting with Drew Barksdale on two touchdowns and Khoury Crenshaw on another.

Darian Hicks caught a touchdown pass from George Berry in the first quarter.

Solon hosts Twinsburg next week. Mentor plays Medina.
