Solon's Kathryn Reker, 6-Year-old Taekwondo Champion

Don't mess with Kathryn Reker.

Kathryn, a 6-year-old Solon resident, won three gold medals and one bronze medal Tuesday at the USA Taekwondo Junior Olympics in San Jose, CA. She trains at World Champion Martial Arts in Solon, where she has earned her first-degree black belt.

She won gold medals in Forms, Sparring and Weapons and a bronze medal in Board Breaking. She competed in the 6 and 7 black-belt division.

The victory is a big deal because USA Taekwondo is the governing body for the sport and part of the U.S. Olympic Committee. Winning at this level is a first step to the Olympic Games.

Kathryn is going to Los Angeles next to compete in the America Taekwondo United National Championships, where she will defend her 2010 National Champions.
