Solon's Chris Humphrey Playing Today in Ohio North-South Game

Before taking his talents to Kent, Humphrey will line up against the South all-stars at 4 p.m. today at the Horseshoe

Solon football standout Chris Humphrey will play in the annual Ohio North-South Football Classic at 4 p.m. today at Ohio Stadium.

The game features some of the best high school football players in the state who are heading off to play college ball next year. Humphrey will suit up for the North team.

Humphrey, a standout offensive and defensive player for the Comets, will be playing football at Kent State next year. Humphrey, who has played quarterback, defensive back and returner, is listed on the roster as a QB for today's game.

Humphrey was a jack-of-all-trades on the field this past season for the Comets, excelling on offensive, defense and special teams. He played quarterback on offense, throwing 655 yards and four touchdowns and rushing for 841 yards and 16 touchdowns, according to the school's statistics for the 2010 season.

As a safety, Humphrey recorded 20 tackles, three interceptions and a fumble. He took two of his picks and the fumble recovery back for touchdowns.

Humphrey also netted 326 yards on kickoff and punt returns.

Humphrey has received other honors for his on-field performance in 2010, including Offensive Player of the Year in the Northeast Ohio Conference and first team AP All-Ohio and All-District teams as a defensive back.
