Solonite Kayla Jeter, Tennessee Volleyball Star, Out for Season

Jeter, an All-SEC standout for the Volunteers who grew up in Solon, tore her ACL last week and will miss the season

suffered a setback last week in her outstanding volleyball career at the University of Tennessee.

Jeter tore her ACL during practice Aug. 19 and will miss her senior season, according to a news release from the Tennessee Athletic Department.

Jeter plans to return for another season after she recovers from surgery. It will take an estimated six to nine months for Jeter's knee to recover.

Jeter enjoyed her best season as a junior in 2010, earning first-team All-SEC and AVCA All-America honorable mention honors. Jeter was second on the team with 340 kills and led the squad with 19 solo blocks.

"I know with Kayla’s work ethic that she will come back stronger and more motivated than ever to have a great year next season," said head coach Rob Patrick. "We’re excited to have Kayla back in our program for another year."

At Solon, Jeter was the catalyst for a Comet team that advanced all the way to the state Final Four her junior year.
