Solon Boys Soccer Shuts Out Cuyahoga Falls

The Comets defeated Cuyahoga Falls 6-0 with a flurry of scoring from a bunch of players.

While Cleveland is well known for their clinics, the boys soccer team put on a clinic of their own tonight as they humbled Cuyahoga Falls by a score of 6-0. The plan of the game for the Comets was to score early and often.

Junior Aram Tosunyan got the scoring going with his first goal 3 minutes into the contest. Before the crowd had a chance to sit back down, Senior Leo Held found the net not 30 seconds later.

Aram Then added his second as he went solo and rifled one past the goalie, and 5 minutes later completed his "hat trick" with a third goal of the first half.

Junior Scotty Welker then added a spectacular goal of his own when he froze the goalie with some fancy footwork that had the crowd in awe. 20 seconds later, Max Sattele completed the scoring with a goal of his own.

The defense kept the ball away from the Comet goal all night and limited Cuyahoga Falls to just a handful of weak shot on goal.

While there was no scoring in the second half, Coach Ryan Conner was able to empty his bench and give everyone on the team a chance to get some well deserved playing time. The shutout for the Comets was led by senior goalie Jacob Altstadt and freshman goalie Will Meyer who played the second half.

The JV team also easily took care of winning their game 13-0. Scoring for your comets included: Max Schulman (4), Ryan Passerallo (2), Ian Erkkila (3), Achuth Nair (1), Darrian Mercer (2), and Josh Baskind (1).

Next up for the team is a visit from the Nordonia Knights as Solon hosts on Saturday August 25 for a 7pm start at Stewart Field. The JV game will be played at 5pm.

The game will also feature  a recognition night as the team welcomes the future Comets that play for the Solon Soccer Club travel soccer teams. The U8 through U14 teams will be on the field at halftime. Come out and support your Comets and teams from the Solon Soccer Club.
