Solon Rallies Late to Advance to the District Championship

A big fifth inning helped the Comets streak by Garfield Heights, 10-3.

The Solon Comets softball team scored seven runs in the fifth inning on their way to beating Garfield Heights in the district semifinals on Tuesday night, 10-3.

Solon's Kristen Confroy had a lead off home run to start the game and two doubles to lead the Comets in batting.

Sarah Maxson pitched a complete game for Solon, holding Garfield Heights scoreless in the last four innings.

The Comets will advance to the district championship game where they will face Brecksville-Broadview Heights, who beat Shaker Heights 10-0 in five innings Tuesday.

The game will start at 4:30 p.m. at Solon High School.
