Solon Hockey Wins Baron Cup II For First Time In School History

The Comets defeated Amherst, Kent and Orange on the way to the school's first Baron Cup II championship.

The Solon Comets are the Baron Cup II Champions for the first time in school history.

The Comets won the cup by defeating Orange 6-5 on Sunday night in an overtime thriller when Ben Peterson scored the winning goal. Also scoring for Solon was Zach Mandry and Sam Littman with two goals each. Jake Pierce also added a goal.

The eighth-seeded Comets were underdogs the whole way through the tournament. They defeated top-seeded Amherst, fourth-seeded Kent and second-seeded Orange to win the cup.

Sam Littman was awarded the tournament Vince Locastro Sportsmanship Award.
