Solon High graduate Steve Greer has signed with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent.
Greer's father told Solon Patch that his son signed a contract with the Redskins this weekend to take a crack at playing in the National Football League.
"Blessed for this unbelieveable opportunity! Excited for the path ahead," Greer tweeted Saturday night.
A linebacker, Greer was a standout at the University of Virginia from 2009-2012. He ended his college career with 376 total tackles, good enough for sixth-best in the history of Virginia football.
Only Notre Dame's Manti T'eo had more career tackles among active BCS conference players, according to University of Virginia Athletics.
Greer graduated from Solon High School in 2008.
