Solon Football 2012: See The Schedule!

Ready for some football?

It's time to get ready with the season kicking off Aug. 24 at Stewart Field against Shaker Heights.

The season then kicks into gear with a much-hyped contest against Cleveland Glenville at home on Aug. 31.

The Glenville Tarblooders, coached by Ted Ginn Sr., has produced some famous college and professional athletes in the past, including Ted Ginn Jr. and Troy Smith, who won the Heisman Trophy at Ohio State.

Solon signed a two-year contract with Glenville, with the Tarblooders playing in Solon in 2012 and 2013.

"The addition of Glenville to our upcoming schedule adds even more excitement to this off season for us," said Head Coach Jim McQuaide. "Our schedule definitely just became more challenging since we have added a nationally recognized team in Glenville.

"Our guys are working hard to be able to accept the challenge presented by everyone on our 2012 schedule."

Other schedule highlights: The Comets will travel to North Royalton for a Northeast Ohio Conference crossover game. Visits to Mentor, Brunswick, and Strongsville are planned for this year’s Valley Division play and Stewart Field will be the site of six home games for the Comets.

A major advantage for the Comets is they will play six of their 10 regular season games in the friendly confines of Stewart Field. Shaker Heights, Glenville, Akron Buchtel, Normandy, Medina and rival Twinsburg will all visit Solon.

"We are thrilled that we were able to secure six home games this year," McQuaide said. "Our fans make Stewart Field one of the best Friday night atmospheres in the state and allow us to be successful."
