If you were not at the boys soccer game Tuesday night, you missed one heck of a show!

Just when things started to look very grim and desperate for the host Solon boy’s soccer team, senior co-captain and defender Foster King came through with a late goal to preserve a 1-1 tie with archrival Twinsburg.

The Tigers had struck first with a goal early in the game off a corner kick and rode the lead into halftime. But with under two minutes to play in the game, a ball that Twinsburg tried to clear from their box grazed left and Foster ran up and drilled a shot low and hard between the crowded players that found the lower right side of the goal that sent the crowd into hysterics.

Pretty much the whole game, other than the two goals, was a stalemate for both teams as they each had about the same number of corner kicks and scoring opportunities. It was a rough and tumble game as physical play dominated most of the match.

The possibility of a rematch is not out of reach as both teams could end up playing again in the playoffs in October or November. The tie puts the Comets record now at 5-1-2.

In the earlier JV game, Solon was unable to find the net and lost 2-0.

Next up for Solon is a Thursday night match as they travel to North Royalton to take on the Bears. JV is scheduled to play at 5pm, the varsity at 7pm.
