Late Goal Propels Solon Hockey Over Kent, 4-2

Junior Mitch Neides put Solon ahead 3-2 with a clutch goal with 1:35 left to play in the third period.

A last-minute goal and clutch saves from the goalie led the Solon Hockey team to a 4-2 victory Tuesday against Kent Roosevelt.

Junior Mitch Neiders scored from the point with only 1:35 to play in the third period to give the Comets a 3-2 lead over their White Division rival.

Then Goalie Kyle Peterson batted away Kent's comeback effort with key saves down the stretch. Peterson finished with 20 saves.

Solon stretched the lead to 4-2 with an empty net goal from Michael Krenn.

Scoring earlier in the game for Solon was John Hannah and Sam Littman.

Next up for the Comets is an away game against Kenston on Saturday at The Pond in Chagrin Falls. The puck drops at 8:40 p.m.

The Comets are 6-2 on the season so far. They already played Kenston once, losing 4-3 in overtime.
